Special Video: Russell Simmons Visits Stephen Pierce and Talks About “Consciousness” and Success

November
5th

USA Today recently named Russell Simmons one of the “Top 25 Most Influential People of the Past 25 Years,” calling him a “hip-hop” pioneer for his groundbreaking vision that has influenced music, fashion, finance, television and film, as well as the face of modern philanthropy.

On September 25th Russell Simmons visited our Estate in Texas for an amazing Charity Networking event.

And now you can watch and listen to some of what Russell shared with our guest at the event.

I’m sure you will love it, so let’s begin…

VIDEO BEING MODIFIED: Please pardon this interruption. A better sounding video clip is being edited so you can hear Russell better.

TalkBack to me while you’re here. I would love your point of view on what Russell touched on in this video clip. What does this mean to you? Do you agree? Disagree? I’m all ears and I’m listening, so TalkBack to me.

God Bless YOU and YOURS,
Stephen Pierce

I agree 100% with what was said. Russell is right… we all need to be conscious, to have purpose, and to become good givers. Many are worried about our new president, but it doesn’t matter who is in the house. If we want change, we become the change, individually, collectively, and as a whole. We can’t become that change if we don’t wake up (become conscious), and realize where we are in life. The example of the “300 lb man” was a perfect example… this guy didn’t realize that he was the problem and the solution. Good video.

It seemed so appropriate to listen to today as we as Americans celebrate the success of Barack Obama and of our fellow citizens who cast the vote for change in America !

Although the video clip was hard to hear I heard what I think was the most important part. GIVE. Living a life of giving truly does have a tremendous return on it in more ways than one. When you give it not only returns to you financially but also has it’s rewards spiritually and emotionally with the satisfaction of implementing something into the life of another.

The audio of the video was tough to comprehend but I did get that we all need to be huge givers and small takers. It all comes down to what I can contribute to you and not what I can get from you.

Thanks for the video clip of Russell Simmons the co-founder of Def Jam, & owner of the Phat Farm clothing line [for the benefit of my European counterpart who appeared to be unaware of who Russell is}, The record label was/is the home of Run DMC, LL Cool J, to name but only two, & was the first independent Hip Hop label to be signed to a mayor recording company, the significance of which is that P Diddy, Dr Dre-Eminem-50 Cent & Jay Z, & several others went on the use the boutique record label model that was pioneered by Russell Simmons & Rick Rubin in the 1980’s.

What is often missed about Russell [& I haven’t read his book] is that he is a spiritually guided man on his own journey of Constant & Never Ending Improvement which means that his philosophy & approach to life is a reflection of the books he reads & his personal quest for enlightenment, not really what you associate with capitalism but out here in the UK we only really see Russell on Runs House on MTV & Kimora Lee Simmons on MTV Cribs showing there 20’000 sq ft house which he used to live in, Russell’s philanthropic & spiritual pursuits may get a mention nationally, but we remain blissfully ignorant of his charitable work out here in the UK. So with that said it would be entirely consistent for him to state the importance of Consciousness in response to the question on poverty & homelessness, he said, “Great givers can become Good Getters” & transversely Good getters can become Great Givers, & that giving can begin at any time.

So to the aspiring IM student [& i'm one of them], perhaps if we where to consider shifting our focus from what are we going to buy to What am I prepared to give, then the pathway to our productivity & success may be influenced by an infinite consciousness that can contribute to an even greater success, greater than we could possibly imagine. Just a thought!

    Hi Stephen,

I think what Russell said about tapping into your purpose is key. Too many people have no idea what their purpose is in life. As a result, they run around “staving” like the gentleman that Russell ran into in his old neighborhood. Once you tap into your purpose it is at that point that you wake up and become conscious. This is why even many rich and successful people are miserable. They made money but they didn’t tap into their purpose so they are still unconscious.

Wow. Russell Simmons some profound stuff:
    - People are starving for consciousness, for purpose.
    - The too-big house is of no use. (For him, that is. He specifies that to acknowledge that’s his own opinion and not judge others’ choices.)
    - We have to teach people to give, to wake up and decide what their service will be.

I am really impressed by his self-awareness and his eyes-open examination of what he encounters. And I’m especially moved by his pursuit of teaching service and philanthropy.

Thank you, Steven (and Alicia) for bringing him in and for sharing this inspiring video.
May we all become better givers. :-)

Stephen, I need your help really bad on something. I need to set up a PayPal Account. I don’t have any more money to buy hosting for my website when I get one. I plan to take DollarSurveys and pay for my hosting for my website with the money that I make! I can take 1 Survey each day which will add up eventually! I heard that you can set up a PayPal Account for free. I sure hope that you can, because I need to make some money so that my Mom and Dad won’t have to keep taking care of me! My Mom had a mini-stroke not long ago, so I am heloing her get around and helping wait on her! She and my Dad are both retired and money is tight! We are all Christians and are a pretty close family! My brother just went into the hospital for appendicitis, which is just 1 more thing that my Mom is worried about!! I thank the Good Lord for my Excellent Health but my Financial Condition is the Pits!!! I am going to start doing Surveys, so if you know any good ones, please let me know! I have been a Christian for about 35 years now, and I am concerned for my country!! I am glad that Barack Obama won the election, even though I don’t agree with his stand on the murder of innocent babies! I also don’t agree with the U.S. invading other countries and murdering innocent civilians! I could not vote for 4 more years of Republicans finishing off this country, and I knew that John McCain would invade Iran and get us into a war with Russia and China!! The Republicans under G.W. have spent more money on the war in Iraq and Afghanistan than All the Presidents in the entire history of the United States, period!!!! I am an Amillenial Preterist Christian! I believe that All the Prophecies referring to Israel have been Fulfilled back in 67 - 70 a.d., when Rome destroyed the Jewish nation as Jesus Christ mentioned in Matthew 24 and the rest of the New Testament!! I don’t believe in a Physical Rapture!! Jesus used Prophetic Apocalyptic language to describe God’s judgements against the nation of Israel and also the downfall of Rome back in Jesus’ and the disciples and apostles generation or age!! I am not anti - Semitic !! I love the Palestinians and the people in modern - day Israel who claim to be Jewish, as well as every person in Every Nation equally!! God is No Respecter of Persons or Nations!! I don’t believe that we Christians or the nation of Israel can start a war with the Arab nations or Russia or China and get Raptured Off of the Earth!! No Christians have Ever been Raptured in the history of the earth - period! Modern - day Christians don’t understand the history of Israel in the Bible, or they would not be trying to back a nation of Gentiles in modern - day Israel who are clinging to prophecies that have already been Fulfilled!! That is the reason that Christians let Israel do whatever they want to do !! I have studied my Holy Bible and the Hebrew and Greek for 35 years and do not find even 1 prophecy for modern - day Israel!!! Try to find 1 after Jesus’ generation in the Holy Bible! Jesus nor any of the disciples or apostles -including John the Revelator Never mention Even 1 !! There are No Prophecies about America or Any Modern - Day Nation -such as Russia, Great Britain, Iran, Iraq, China or any Other Nation Existing Today!! I believe that if the United States or Israel do something stupid like attack Iran, that God will let us reap what we sow - and He Will Not Deliver or Remove Us - from the Evil Consequences of Our Sins!! I am glad to hear that you and your family are also Christians!! God Bless You and Your Family!! I hope you don’t think less of me because of my Beliefs! I live out my Beliefs in Everything I do!! 1. Health

“Conciousness”. The missing ingredient and prerequsite for “Desire” - so much talk about in Napolean Hill in TAGR.

I called it “Awareness” - and education is a vehicle to achieve this. Without awareness, I have seen too many people makeing wrong choices in their lives or not making choices at all or having no Desire to change because they are not aware of what is possible.

Thanks Russell for reinforcing the philosophy of prosperity.

On a side note, could your choice of the word “Conciousness” be influence by the more Darwinian theory of survival of the fittest ? In that a high biological conciousness ( fitness, or higher level of mental conciousness ) will lead to higher performance in life.

This world needs all the help it can get and giving to help others to be properous and wealthy is certainly a worthy endevor. Fundamental to any and all forms of prosperity is to be conscious as Russel Simmons pointed out.
I personally feels it’s important to understand the relationship between consciousness, prosperity, and true giving.
There are many, many ways in which we can give, through sharing information, education, wealth, and happiness, but if we can give of spiritual wealth, I think that is the most profound way to give. That is what I found out by coming into contact with a true spiritual genius, that is someone who gives 24hrs a day…no breaks, no holidays, just continuous giving. That is what the world needs, Barack Obama is a very important figure, I believe his inauguration as the new President Elect is no mystery, but really a result of a Divine blessing in the world that is continuing to unfold.

    All the best,
    Colin

Thank you very much for sharing Russell Simmons with us. Sorry I have not seen him before although I have heard him. Such a talented individual and we’re lucky to view him and also your beautiful Manson. A golf course (9) holes would sit beautifully on your property. A charity game amongst the members would be ideal.
Thank you for sharing your Manson, and you have got me dreaming of a Manson on my island *Aitutaki* in the Cook Islands. During world War Two,I was nearly 9 years old, when the American Servicemen arrived to live and to make sure the Japanese does not come to our island. They built 2 large airstrip for their huge planes, also widen the passage for large barges to speed up unloading machineries from 5 to 6 ships at a time waiting to be unloaded. They were generous in giving food stuff and of course we give fish and fresh vegetables when at christmas time trucks would deliver in every villages (7) at the time with all sorts of goodies for the people. We enjoyed celebrating the 4th of July. History has been made today. We congratulate Barack Obama the president elect of the United States of America. God Bless America.

Hello Stephen and thanks for inviting me to listen to Russell Simmons video. It was most impressive, thought provoking and uplifting.

In this day and time, how wonderful it is to actually “show up”…”Conscious” of who you are, where you are right now and where you’re going on that wonderful journey that I call…”Life”. Moreover, just imagine, that you absolutely, positively…know, your true purpose in life. That along should consciously focus you on “showing up with a spirit of giving all that can and all that you are to the cause-whatever that cause may be. Because on a daily basis, “God is giving his all to each and every one of us”.

Focusing our attention and giving on those positive causes moves our attention from the little I’s and catapults us to what we were originally created to be-”Sober of thoughts, conscious of our mission and stewards of servitude”.

    Thank you,

    Gwyndia

I like the way you’re always looking to give and help out others. You share the best ways from your experience to live a “no limits” lifestyle. I greatly admire Russell for all he’s done as well. But I was very disappointed in the production value here. Knowing who you guys are I expected more. I could barely understand a word he said. He should have had the mic closer or had a lavalier on. I also heard a low hum throughout most of it. The single camera going back and forth? Two cameras would have been much hipper. (I’m sure you have multiple cameras kickin’ around). I used to own a multimedia facility for many years, so, since I couldn’t really catch what was being said I’m sorry I can only comment on the production value. I still read your emails for what you have to share!

Thanks for giving this video Stephen. Mr. Simmons was Short and to the point. Being educated and conscious are truly the keys of success. We saw that coming out in the Obama’s campaign and victory.

With regards to giving, I remember listening to Zig Zigglar sometime ago and heard him saying that you can get anything you want by helping others to get what they want. One of the greatest books in the world tells us to give and it also says cast your bread upon the water and after many days it will return to you. One of my spiritual mentors says, “Remember God. Choose love. Create value” The point of being a giver that Russel spoke about appeals to me for as we give with no strings attached, we experience a sense of joy.

    Wonderful. Thank you again Stephen.

My comment is not directly connected to what Russell said. However, this is something that came to mind for me as he spoke. Hope it’s OK to drop it in, as it is kind of related.

One thing that continues to intrigue me is how many people are still using the terms “fighting poverty” and “make poverty history”, for example.

To my perception, the moment I hear those terms, I am focused on poverty.

Instead, I’d love to see something more akin to “make wealth history” and “build wealth”, or “spread the wealth” as in the words of Obama.
We have “made poverty history” in that we have historic levels of global poverty. Hope you can understand what I’m getting at.

There’s a poignant quote by Mother Teresa that always comes to mind for me in this context. She said:

“I was once asked why I don’t participate in anti-war demonstrations. I said that I will never do that, but as soon as you have a pro-peace rally, I’ll be there.”

I can’t seem to bring myself to putting my name to a ‘fight poverty’ or ‘make poverty history’ campaign because of how those terms carry a charge for me, and they shift my mind to focus on the poverty. I’d love to see a “pro-abundance consciousness” or “pro-wealth” campaign?

    Thank you Russell and Stephen.

    Cheers, Thea

it’s a standard method to creating his success.

Yes I agree to an extent, the successful always talk about education being the key. Well yes that’s true, but it has to be the right kind of education!

The traditional go to school, get a good job type of education is not the right kind, but rarely if ever do the successful make that distinction, and I think it is a very important distinction to make!

Success education is the right kind, learning the principals of success, the laws of the universe, entreprenueralship, conciousness, thinking, goal setting, This is the type of education that is the key to the future.

Someone needs to open up a university of Success, where a person can go and learn all the laws and principals of achievement and true success!

The successful people are right, education is the key, but it has to be the right kind of education!
