People should sit back a few minutes and really let the meaning of these basic fundamental concepts soak in. Everybody seems to want to build the house without finishing the foundation. And it doesn’t matter how many houses you build, you still have to start at the foundation. I think that’s why so many people fail in business both online and off. I’m really looking forward to the videos.

Ann-Marie (#40), you are correct. Lots of marketing is based on emotional triggers inside all of us. And I’m actually fine with that because it can help people to move and change their lives. It’s when it’s used to manipulate and get people to buy stuff that is fluff and useless that it creates problems. Because it fills the hunger (void) with empty calories. Which if I understand you correctly, is what you are talking about as well.

Yes you are correct. The fundamentals are the cornerstones and foundations for success. Every house needs a foundation (if it’s going to last and be solid). However what creative house you build on top of that foundation is based on… well, ones creativity.
Jay (#45), you bring up a great point. And one that marketers know well. Shaping market perceptions is fine. I’m cool with that, because like you said “perception is reality.” So it’s not really the shaping of the markets perceptions that’s an issue. It’s when that shaping is based on lies, half-truths and deceit that it becomes a problem… especially if it leads to people buying stuff that’s garbage that they get no tangible value from.
Candy (#46) well it’s good to see you off the procrastinators chair and moving forward.
Martha (#50) my apologies for the audio button. We have checked everything here and see that it’s showing up fine and Internet Explorer and Firefox and the audio is playing fine. Not sure what browser you are using or what could be causing that.

Martha, I had that same experience; it’s likely to be due to the RESOLUTION of your screen. Minimise Stephen’s website (and all other open windows), RIGHT CLICK on your desk top screen; click at PROPERTIES
(bottom of list); click at SETTINGS tab; then INCREASE SCREEN RESOLUTION to at least
1024 x 768 pixels. (This asssumes you’re using Windows.)

Hi, Stephen. Happy New Year!
I thoroughly enjoyed the lesson. It certainly made things much clearer for me as to what I should be focused on.
I’ve wasted so much time and money on the bells and whistles that now I’m so totally confused as to what to do first which
causes me to not do anything. I have definitely learned that you need to stop listening to all the so called Gurus and find
someone that you know to be successful in building the kind of business you desire and follow just that one. I’m sure with
all the JVs, Resell Rights and such that are out there that I’ve probably purchased the same stuff from 2 different people.
Apparently building traffic is now the going “staple” because all the GURUs are now pushing their wares in this arena. But tell
me, how do you start to get traffic (or build a list) from nothing? Everyone always says no “SPAM” — if this is so, how
do you start a list with people you don’t know? It seems to me that you have to take a chance on sending at least one e-mail to thos you
don’t know — with a Squeeze page, of course, to see what you get back. Isn’t this how to start? I’m reluctant to send anything
out for fear of being dumped by my autoresponder. So where/how do I find what the fundamentals are?

Till I heard what you said, I never realized the difference between wanting fo DO something and wanting to LEARN TO DO something.
That has been me most of my life with things that ended up being more of a challenge to accomplish than I originally expected.
As I’m a quick learner and pretty bright, I have to confess that it has been meaty things, things that needed more of learning the fundamentals rather than jumping straight into doing, ie is being a Jill of all trades master of none.
How bright is that – I’ve always thought it was self-sabotaging; I prefer your slant on it as I can fix that immediately in changing my mindset, and now comes actioning what you said.

Stephen, if I understand it correctly, there are ONLY three things to get right – a Great PRODUCT, a Great WEBSITE with a compelling sales letter, and generating Great TRAFFIC. And what I have just learned is that TRAFFIC generation is the greatest of them all. Cool.
You’re right. I have probably spent too much time focusing on building a better website and widget, and still, i don’t make enough money! I wonder why? D’uh – it’s the traffic man!

I agree with the fundamentals; interactions with people and values exchange are the keys to a successful buisness
Getting great tools to do the job (like a fancy website) provide a great feeling of accomplishment and confidence at the very beginning, but it usually contributes to increase the feeling of failure after a while, when there is no changes on the bottom line.
So I agree, if we get some traffic coming and some people interesting in buying stuff through your website, there is plenty of time to improve the quality of the presentation
