This Is The Gap That Holds You Back
I use to feel like the underdog in life.
I felt like I had all the disadvantages and none of the advantages.
It really seemed like everyone else was better than me for some reason.
Have you ever felt like that?
Heck, do you feel that way right now?
If so, I think you and I should have a little talk today.
Because I want to share with you an idea so simple, yet so powerful it will change your life in an INSTANT.
Yes… I did say… “in an INSTANT.”
Tall order right?
Well, listen to today’s 15 minute and 31 second TalkBack and decide for yourself.
It changed my life… so I know it can and will change yours.
All you have to do is click play to start.

Hi Stephen,
What you have shared with us in this session was absolutely amazing and each and every entrepreneur needs this.
However I had a question about finding the right accountability partner.
I have been looking for one from last 3 months but having difficulties in terms of trusting somebody.
Do you have any insights about how to find the right accountability partners as well as what are the things we need to make sure our IPs are protected.
Thanks for everything you do.
You are my favourite hero…

There’s been an explosion of available self-help products, there are video subliminal products
advertised; there are subliminal audio products as well; and then there are dozens of “brain
entrainment” products too. I’ve seen “Holosync” and “Quantum Mind Power” and “Optimindzation”.
Which of these really, really really do work? I don’t know.
But one thing I do know: I haven’t seen any independent lab verification.
Does anyone have any proof?

Hi Stephen,
I am one of those people who have bought and bought and bought, and had the best intentions to do, do, do. But, my greatest
enemy at the moment (which somehow I need to turn into my greatest asset) is time. With a 2 year old running around my ankles
and not letting me focus or concentrate on learning this stuff, and getting this stuff (more to the point), plus the need
to work to get money in on the short term and not having the time to do this stuff, it all starts to become just stuff!!
I wake up every day and think to myself what can I get into learning today so I can get a skill to start implementing and
making something work for me – sometimes, it just becomes so overwhelming and confusing…..I don’t know where my head is at.
Then I start to wish for time to just plough through it all, learn as much as I can, then to let it all sink in and hopefully
have some answer in how to implement the information, the knowlegde and the skill to start making it work for me….all so
I can have more time!! It really feels like a merry go round – so how do I make that stop.
If only I can just get back to basics and take one step at a time and be ok with that…..

Hi Stephen,
Loving this stuff…..and great to see the above comments
from like-minded souls.
Unfortunately its our human nature which focuses on stuff
we don’t like…we beat ourselves up constantly and label
events, people actions with negative labels. This gets
us in a negative spiral…..what we focuses on expands,
what we resists persists.
So lets all focus on how brilliant we are and the great
things we have achieved and built on those.
We are all rich beyond our wildest dreams NOW…take
anyone with a health problem or situation and they would gladly
pay millions to be in perfect health.
Thanks for all your great talks…i have a lot of
catching up…only heard 2.
God Bless to you and yours.
Cheers

Hi David,
I found a self-help product that relly has helped me. The only proof I have is my self that now has overcome my obstacles.
During long time I had problem with procrastianation and allowed me to be distracted and avoided to do my task at hand. Finally I found a program that really takes me out from distraction and make me focus easily. I listen to a sound via MP3 on this Laser Focus while I work and this work 100 % for me. I am relly happy with this solution because now I mange to continue with my blog construction and other things.
Best Wishes,

I was looking forward to listening to “the gap that holds you back” but was unable to click on it. There were graphics in a sidebar overlapping the the link so I couldn’t get to it. I don’t know if it’s an issue with my computer butI thought you might want to know in case it’s an issue with your webpage display. I hope I get a chance to listen.
Thanks.

WOW… Like most people I too have several programs on the shelves. Information I’ve obtained and have applied in many areas of my life. When looking for advise from someone, there are three responses you’ll receive. One will come from the person who’s never done it. The other will come from the person who has done it but failed. And then you’ll the right answer will come from the person who has done it and succeeded. Life is what I make it, if I don’t make it what I want it to be, then I can only receive what some else wants me to have. Some things you know, but it always appears to be a fresh word when someone else tells you.
Thanks Stephen.

Just recently, I dug out a set of cellophaned cd’s that have been just sitting in my s/development box and started playing them. They are discussions on Think and Grow Rich which i have attempted to read on and off for two years. I guess I’m more of a hearing person and the c.d seemed that more accessable and understandable. These c.d.s have cleared up a number of grey areas that I didn’t quite get. If I hadn’t tried I’d would still be struggling. Your absolutely right Stephen, you have to squeeze the juice. (If anyone’s interested they’re called How to Get Rich Starting From Zero!). This is a public information service!

information is only good if a person uses it and takes the next step, however if the energy is not there then you are only trying or pushing to do something that will not happen. the timing has to be right for it to happen and happen well.when it is right it will happen ! a good talk and a great inspiration to me thankyou

Hello Stephan,
I am unable to listen to your TalkBack tape at this time because of a problem I’m having with my computer. I did want to comment though, because I read all of the comments listed.
My biggest problem (aside from purchasing all the cds, programs, courses, etc.) is that when I do purchase something and the person I purchase from tells me that they will be there to help and I can’t get in touch with them.
I have tried sending support tickets (without answers) because their email addresses are always noreply@(whatever).com. How are we supposed to get help when we can’t get through to the people who say they will help?
I know these “gurus” have a lot on their plates, but they shouldn’t say they are there to help when we can’t get through to them.
I, like some of the others who have left comments, am a watching/doing person. It’s hard to read the info from ebooks and it takes all my ink to try to print them out. I sure don’t have the money to purchase ink ($38) per cartridge every month.
I brought products from so called gurus back in 1998. (Cost: $97 and $197 respectively) (I won’t name them or their products for sake of propriety.) I printed them out and one was 200+ pages and the other was over 300 pages. I have moved so many times that I can’t find either of my printed copies. I had them on the 3.5 floppy discs and of course they are not useful on the new Windows programs. (Didn’t have the money to get them transferred to CDs.)
I never was able to get in touch with either of these gentlemen for help. Again, the noreply@(whatever).com syndrome.
My money comes from SS now and there isn’t enough to pay bills and purchase products that aren’t going to help me. Also, when one product is purchased emails come fast and furious with more products that “need” to be purchased to go along with the first product AND with a time limit on the purchase or lose out on the “low” price. Which isn’t low at all. I don’t call even $37 a low price because of my circumstances.
Where does this all end? How is a person supposed to get anything done when we are always bombarded with something else to buy from these “gurus”?
I’m sorry for rambling, but motivation can go out the window when our emails are filled with “Buy this”, “You need this”, “Get this now before the price goes up” and on & on.
All I want to do is learn how to build a list for the affiliate programs I belong to so that I can refer the programs to a list instead of mailing to Safelists.
I hope I can listen to your tape soon. From the other comments it seems like I’ll enjoy it very much.
God Bless you,
Dalora

Yep, the bit that’s missing for most people is ACCOUNTABILITY. I truly believe that if we all had someone to whom we were accountable (I mean beyond our families, friends, boss, etc), we’d get a LOT more done, and be a lot more productive. I’m pretty disciplined, by I still get lazy often, and then I get all charged up again when I realise I’m being that way. But it’s me doing this; would be much easier with someone else looking over my shoulder on occasions.
So, get a coach, or mentor or someone who can make you accountable for the stuff you need to do.
Oh, and by the way – THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS LACK OF TIME – IT’S ALWAYS A CASE OF LACK OF PRIORITIES.
cheers, Mark

Hi Stephen,
One of my favorite quotes are; “knowledge is knowing, wisdom is doing”.
So the way I see it, wisdom is the integration of knowledge with action – take away either part and You will be right back to Just knowing it or just doing it and the result (or lack thereof) will absolutely indicate it.
So knowledge is important, but knowledge is not the quality that gets things done and I believe it is fairly important to realise that. A person can accumulate an amazing amount of knowledge without ever using it to create any real results in his/her life. So a person will be wise to integrate the action as well and convert this knowledge to wisdom AND action is a lesson in its own unique nature.
Anyway my experience was somewhat odd. I was in a position where I was not seeking any knowledge, I was not doing anything and I actually did not care about moving forward in life, acchieving goals etc. – I was in a terrible state where I felt just aweful. Things were really bad and I had simply given up on everything – I had even given up trying, because everything I did turned into failure. I was very recentfull and depressed and really saw no use in doing anything at all.
Now the reason why my experience was odd is; I suddently found some information that completely turned my whole world upside down. It changed everthing, my thoughts, my feelings, my results – everything.
I used to feel misserable and suddently I was happy all of the time.
My thoughts used to be really awefull and out of control and suddently they were pleasant, constructive and positive.
I used to fail in everything I did and suddently I was reaching the goals I made for myself.
Within a few month I was a completely different person, I had solved many of my problems and I was on a completely different course in my life. My family and friends had a hard time believing the fact that I had made such a dramatic change, but they eventually did.
I have a point of course. All of these results suddently occured out of “no where” and I could not even articulate nor even understand what had happened and what had caused this change. It was pouring juice but I had made no conscious effort to even squeeze anything. So in other words, I did not have a whole lot of knowledge at that point – but I sure did have a lot of desire for creating a new life and my results took me there.
So I kind of had the issue at hand reversed. I first experienced the results and then decided to find out how it happened. Needless to say, I have accumulated a ton of books, some cd’s, dvd, seminars, programs and I have dug into every single one of them in my quest for knowledge and I do not regret a single second or cent that I have spend on it.
However I recently came to the conclusion, that as my quest for knowledge intensified, the application of this knowledge was decending. So I did gain an understanding of why I experienced the kind of results I got, but I was not applying it as intensely as I did to begin with – so knowledge grew and results dropped.
In other words I have learned first hand about the fact, that knowledge alone does NOT produce results. It is not the knowledge, but the application of the right knowledge ,or process if You will, that produces results. This also means, that a lot of people are producing great results without even knowing how they are doing it – they do not understand how they do it, but they still produce the results because they follow the right process.
Anyway after realising this I decided to recommit to implementing my knowledge. The only regret I have is that I was not growing my ability to implement knowledge, along with my desire to aquire knowledge. I absolutely needed to expand my knowledge and I will be expanding it till the day I die, but my primary focus at this time is right back to implementation.
The very first thing that I implementet was an advice I recieved through my studies about one year ago. Am author advised his readers to start writing a journal. So I have started writing a journal and here is how it works:
Every single day (sometimes several times a day), I write in my journal and start expressing some of this knowledge that I have absorbed. I personally felt like there was a ton of information running through my mind that needed to be organised somehow and a journal is a great way to do it – I also use these talkbacks to do it by the way.
But anyway, in my journal I also write what I intend to do for the day or the week. I will write something like; “When I write my journal again I will have completed X task” – and when I do write again I am accountable to my promise.
I write my journal as if it were read by others who respect me. So when I make a promose to complete a task I have this obligation not to let my imaginary readers down – they need to know that I did complete the task and that I did it well.
I know it may sound a little strange, but it actually helps me to get more things done. So I am my own accountability-buddy and it actually works fairly well.
What I am doing now is simply implementing a select group of actions. – The last piece of material I was involved with (a book) does not contain action steps for me to take, but I am utilizing important actionsteps that I have negleckted in the past and I have the pleasure of understanding why I do it.
With that being said I absolutely agree, that it is very easy to get sweept away in a quest for knowledge and forget to use it in the process. I think many people are very concerned about the quantity of knowledge they aquire and too little concerned about turning that quantity into quality.
I believe that this is due to a beliefsystem that the vast majority of people have somehow come to accept. It is the “Get an education and You will succeed in life” (ever heard that one?). This sets up the idea, that all a person needs to succeed is to aquire the proper knowledge – that a person will be rewarded for what s/he knows and not what s/he does.
Most of us knows intellectually that this is not true at all, however it still seems to affect the way people try to succeed. This also goes to show, that a person can KNOW something and still take action in a whole other direction.
Anyway here is a word that I also focus a lot on these days: Excellence.
I remember someone saying; Excellence is a commitment to completion. I have twisted and turned this phrase in my head several times and reached the conclution that Excellence cirtainly did not describe what I was doing.
Think about this one…
If You read a great book that has great knowledge for You to utilize; and after You read the book You set it aside and go about your business as usual. – Then You have not completed the process; You are not excellent.
Being excellent is completing the whole process and that is aquireing the knowledge, using the knowledge and ultimately producing the desired result. – Just absorbing material is just getting started and never seeing it to the end right?
So I made a decition to be excellent in everything that I possibly can. I am pretty good at getting started, but I do start a lot more things than I ever finish. When I backtrack in my own life I see a pattern unfolding; I see many projects begun but never finished, many books read but not put into action, many good intentions that never became reality. Also I started an education but dropped out, started working out but stopped again… And I just realised this…
Everything I have ever started and never completed has absolutely no real value today. It is kind of like the guy with 100 unfinished projects in his garage: There is a bike without wheels, a car without an engine, a doghouse without a roof etc.
Every single item in the garage is junk, any item in his garage does not have a value intil it is completed.
The way I see it, I would rather have just 1 completed item in my garage, than 100 uncompleted items. – More value and less mess right!
Indeed excellence is a word I ponder a lot about these days. Making a commitment to complete whatever I start and increase the value of my life. The things I complete these days are pretty minor things, but it does not really matter. It is the completion that counts, and the fact that I am breaking a pattern that has not served me very well in the past.
The part of this talkback that had the most significant impact on me was the fact that we need desire. Though I was aware of that fact, it was actually something that needed to be brought back into my awareness.
The reasons why I made the change that I did in my life was… well I honestly believe that it was the application of a very simple but powerful piece of information integrated with an intense desire.
Knowledge sets the direction and desire gives the boost. What is the use of pointing in the right direction if You are not going anywhere? And furthermore, why rely on ignorence to set the direction and waste all of that desire?
I remember someone saying; – that a man needs to set emotional goals. If he sets logical goals he is gonna raise skinny kids.
And hence…
Noone really wants what they say they want; we do not want the house, the car, the money, the business, the success or whatever – What we want is the way these things makes us feel. There is a desired feeling attached to every goal we set for ourselves and it seems wise to get in touch with that feeling in the persuit of whatever it is we want.
Thank You ever so much for all of your help in the journey that I am making through life.
Kind Regards
Jimmi

Some great comments included in your session as always. As a graduate of Tony Robbins UPW along with Jay Abrahams Bootcamp, and about to head off to your Web Site Days this week before Date with Destiny, my conclusion is that there is a heap to implement, not just learn and file away.
Much of the great information has been implemented and it has definitely changed the way that we do business and the relationships we form with clients and partners.
For those who have really taken on much of the information, I would highly recommend revisiting the tapes, notes etc you have taken. My experience is that revisiting this material can provide the same rewards as you got the first time through.
Thanks again
Damon
