Download Your Free Press Release Marketing Checklist

If you want more targeted traffic, then consider using press releases as a solid way of attracting more traffic fast.

However, for a press release to work properly, you must know how to write a press release.

I think there are two ways to write a press release.

  1. Write a press release for search engine optimization.
  2. Write a press release for media placement optimization.

I also think there are three primary outcomes for writing a press release.

  1. Search engine positioning (1st page of Google, MSN, etc)
  2. Backlinks (Build authority sites and Page Rank)
  3. Media placement (Get interviews in print or on radio and TV, secure speaking gigs, etc)

Traffic is not the real purpose of writing a press release in my opinion, it’s actually a reward and effect for effectively doing one or all of the above three.

As a result of that traffic, combined with a strong offer you can accelerate your list building while significantly increasing your sales and income.

The reason many people don’t get good results from press releases is because they rush to the press release distribution phase with badly written press release.

Rushing to the press release distribution phase with a garbage press release is a recipe for disaster and is nothing more than waste of your resources. So to help guide your thinking in putting together a solid press release to produce solid results you can click here to download your Free Press Release Marketing Checklist.

How ironic. I jest sent out a Press Release oday for the media. Didn’t think of doing one for search engine optimization as well for optimal results.

Afterall a Press Release is only as effective a the number of Media that pick it up…on its own.

    Always inspiring Stephen. Thanks.

    Hi Stephen,

I see we have the same concept about press release. I always say that you can write two types of press releases. You can write for Search Engines or for Reporters.

For reporters is really powerful because you get a lot of free publicity if reporters interview you.

The first time I wrote a press release and submitted it they rejected it…But I learned the lesson.

The most important part of your press release is the title, it has to make people read the rest of the press release.

Also, it is important to understand that it is NOT about you, nobody cares if John Smith is launching a new service. You have to create news.

Another thing you can do is monitor Google news, CNN and sites like these and see if you can find good news that you can connect with the product you are selling.

And then you write your press release based on these latest news in your industry. It’s powerful.

    Thanks,
    ^PV Reymond

Steven! Thanks for this great list. You sure have been kicking out some great stuff for us. I love getting your updates ;)

In appreciation, I would like to offer a few ideas that I have that you & others may find very helpful, too.

    1. Make you link to the checklist/PDF’s open in new window…then it is easier and more convienent to *stay* here on your site and post comments or ‘tweet’, etc. Many times it is too easy to “get the goods and go”.
    2. On the PDF’s, if you make the Header Graphix smaller, it would take less time (and ink) to print. This would make also make it easier for *home infiltration*.

Thanks again and look forward to more great tips and insight!
