This is a very simple way of generating traffic, optins and sales… FAST and FREE, for a little effort.

I wanted to test this simple method from the perspective of someone marketing with no current list.

That means you can use this immediately even if you have no list, no affiliates, no products and no online friends… SO NO EXCUSES!

In my quick testing of this I was able to generate 8,483 unique visitors, 10,202 raw visitors, 101 optins, 75 sales and $2,356.80 in extra cash.

While the visitor-to-optin ratio is disappointingly low, the part of this test that I like most is the extraordinary optins-to-sales conversion.

Out of 101 optins, 75 of them converted into buyers, for $2,356.80 in revenue… that’s right around a 75% sales conversion!

Create a 10 to 20 page report in pdf format to be given away free.
Put affiliate links or links to your product inside of the report. (Track for results)
Submit it to the free ebook directories listed below.

On the surface your idea sounds fairly simple but for those of us who do not know anything about internet marketing:
1. How does one create a report in pdf format?
2. How does one put affiliate links or links to their product inside of the report and track for results if we do not have affiliates or products and don’t know how to track results?

Am I totally misunderstanding what you are trying to share?

Hey Edwin,

You can turn any document into a PDF for free using OpenOffice.Org, including MS Office documents. So, all you have to do is type up your book in Word or NotePad, open it up in OpenOffice.Org (you will need to download and install OpenOffice.Org from http://www.openoffice.org/ first). Once it’s open in OpenOffice.Org, just save it as a PDF!

many links for possible submission, but no place to instantly submit on main page that I could find

Here’s some tips I learned along the way:

You will need a URL of the site you use to promote your eBook. Some of the eBook directories will not accept URLs that link to a sales page, squeeze page and/or those that use an email capture

Many sites require that you register or create an account and opt-in before you can submit. Not a big deal, just time consuming

Many ask for reciprocal links; perfectly understandable. Where applicable, make sure you add a link to your site before you making your submission. Your submission will be not be accepted until the link is active, and they check

Have your list of keywords ready; it’s required information in submission forms (a good thing)

Have a short summary of your eBook ready; most require that information in their submission forms

Have an author’s bio ready; some, not many, ask for that information in their submission

Have an image / screenshot of your eBook cover; some, not many, ask for that information in their submission; getfreeebooks requires it (yes, there really are three “e”s; not a typo)

I am a Fan of Stephen, and i love his work, i must admit this time i had some problems with the list, i tested every link and i can say: most of this service-sites are not optimized or dead or else….
But : Stephen Pierce idea is great and it can really works.
I could submit my ebook to less sites, but I got really more traffic than usual!
Your success depends of course also on what kind of ebook you offer.
For me was a little bit more difficoult because my 1. Ebook is in italian language.

Hey Stephen,

I just applied this technique with a new report I just wrote: The #1 Reason You Procrastinate (which has links to my own product).

Out of all the directories I submitted to, 8 of them had outdated url’s or the site didn’t have a ’submit ebook’ section. Other than that, I”ll let you know how it goes.
