Hey Stephen, I like the way you describe this, I mean the words you use – Your Headline For Tomorrow.
I agree with you, the most powerful way to win the battle against our nature is setting up goals.
Everyday at the end of the day I create my work schedule for tomorrow with the tomorrow’s Headlines. Then I give numbers to those Headlines, from the most important to the least one and after that I break down all the headlines into different Subheadlines… I break down the Subjectlines into different points describing what I have to do and how.
After that, I attach that “plan” to the monitor of my computer. The next day when I start to work I know what I have to do, and I start DOING… In this way my nature can’t paralyze me.

Stephen, you are talking about how to have vision. How to look at the future, you desire to be. It will be the hardest things to do for most people if they do not have the emotion, the reason, the understand what the hell is going on in the present. It doesnt work for NORMAL people, because they are all sleep walking through their life… its the unawareness of the spiritual existence.
Desire is the needs of the spirit. Desire is the nature of all life. Changes can only be accomplished only when you take responsibilities for whatever things has already happened to you and accept what it is. Its the focus. The moment you focus, the law of the nature will make it disappear and transform.
In nature, there is nothing called good or bad. its all nature. everything is good. its about subjective reality.
nature vs nurture… i would say focus…. and thats the solution of the nature and the universe…. focus will create emotion… that leads to actions…and to results.
nurture is about growing up. growing is the needs of the spirit. Its about doing actions and getting results, isnt it Stephen.

As an adopted child, I have long been interested in the Nature/Nurture discussion, and I am a walking experiment! I now absolutely believe that while we of course have innate tendencies, we also have the wonderful ability to create a different set of habiotts, which can make all the difference…and does, for those who follow through! I think this is an excellent exercize! Every day we are writing our “story”. The one that will be told about us when we are no longer around. I certainly want mine to be fabulous.
We just set a new goal for our charity to be reached before May this year of $600,000 because we have so many children’s live to touch and meld. I can’t wait to see how using this exercize will help equip me to better reach that goal. I’m going to write it up and send it out to my Board and get them fired up.

I love the information. However, being very much from the “old school” way of thinking,
I develop a stronger appreciation from reading than I do from listening. Any chance that this

Hi Stephen,
I love your headline idea! You’re right it is a fun way to approach goal
setting and achievement. We so often forget that we are creating our future
moment by moment and that with some forward planning and plenty of ACTION
we can create the life we desire.
You also mentioned the subject of procrastination in today’s TalkBack.
We can use procrastination to our advantage. Below is a link to a short
article I wrote on the subject.
For those who like audio you can listen to it and for those who are
more visual you can read it. The audio is 5 minutes 35 seconds.

Have a great weekend everyone and create some awesome headlines!
P.S. I’m so glad to hear that the TalkBacks will soon be available as downloadable MP3s.
I spent several weeks in Barbados recently but where I was staying I only has dial-up and
listening to the TalkBack was simply not practical.

Stephen,
As we all know, the newspapers all know what their headlines will be before the papers hit the presses. So, your idea of predictive headlines are an awesome and useful tool to help conceptualize, visualize, magnetize and create our future.
The gift of empowering others is one which is and should be shared by more and more people. You are one to emulate in that arena. Thanks again for a great audio.

I like the idea of writing your headline for tomorrow today. Great motivator.
[Reply]
Hi Stephen,
First of all thank You for deciding to turn the talkbacks into mp3′s for us to download. I know there are others who are as pleased as I about this great initiative.
Your idea about making our own headlines for tomorrow’s newspaper is a great idea. Adding a short story to it is actually a good idea also I think. But I also find the idea somewhat amusing, it is kind of like playing with the first step of purposely creating our future. Getting our purpose and goal up there on the headline, maybe a little story to arouse that power feeling, and just basically getting clear on what to aim for on a shortterm basis. And getting clear is pretty darn essential if You ask me.
Now there are two things that came to my mind; one is a television series and second is a movie.
I do not know what the series is called in english, but it is the one where that “guy” always gets tomorrows newspaper and is able to act today and change the course of events for tomorrow. And of course he jumps out all hero like and saves someones day in every episode and the headline changes etc… (pretty simple plot right).
Well anyway I think that most people who has seen that series has at least had the thought; what IF I had tomorrows paper today? – Personally I would spend at least a few minutes getting the scores from the sportpages and capitalise on this knowledge.
Anyhoo I was kind of taking this thought a little further with respect to your idea. What if I recieved the newspaper telling me where I was in like 10 years! And what if the first page was an article describing how I never did get off my bum, and how my life 10 years from now has stayed exactly the same! – And probably gotten just a little worse.
Seriously! Imagine recieving this newspaper telling You, that 10 years has past right by You and that You never made any progress at all. Honestly – that thought scares the daylights out of me. And it can get a little more scary than that. If one day passes You by, then a week can easely pass You by also. If a week can pass You by, why not a month or two months. A year only has 12 months, so that can pass You by in a flash and it really can.
So what I am thinking is, if I do not plan for tomorrow, will I plan for next week? Will I plan the months and will I plan the years of my life? – 10 years seems like a loooong time and it seems like plenty of time to realise a lot of goals and dreams. But if action is always procrastinated one day, then the 10 year mark is moving ever closer. – But the goals and dreams are staying put.
Personally I do not feel right if I am not doing something every day to get closer to at least one of my goals. I do not care if I only move a milimeter, as long as I move. And I guess that I kind of see that newspaper 10 years from now as a good enough reason to do that (or at least the 10 year mark). The reason why I chose to say “10 years” is because I did pretty much waste the last 10 years of my life, and I am absolutely horrified and also motivated by the fact that those 10 years can become 20 if I choose let it.
Well this talkback kind of made me think a little about that. The newspaper “guy” is ourselves and the people that we should leap out heroicly to save are ourselves.
It is not my purpose to put this in a negative perspective. But for me it is kind of a reality check.
Anyway about the movie I was also thinking about. It is a pretty old movie, but I remember the english title for it and it is Groundhog day staring Bill Murray. It is a movie where he relives the same day over and over again (groundhog day obviously); and after some time, he knows excactly what is going to happen and when it is going to happen.
When I saw this movie years ago I remembered thinking: “Wow! One single day can really have a lot of different outcomes, experiences, events and opportunities in it!”
You know the movie shows Bill Murray trying to kill himself several times and he wakes up again. This kind of removes his fears so that he starts being more bold in his actions. By being bold in his actions, he also starts making a lot of mistakes. But then he starts to take advantage of the momentum and engages the day fearlessly, with a positive nature and with more intelligent actions AND with a set purpose.
The funny thing is, that the day starts off being just another day in his boring life. Next he is misserable and tries to kill himself. Next he kind of goes with it and creates some positive and negative results. And finally he is making all the right moves and gets the girl. (Happy end follows and he finally loops out of the Groundhog day cycle).
I know I’m writing a million words here…
But the point is, I remember this movie because I was really thinking about how different a day can turn out to be. The fact that Bill Murray experiences the excact same day indicates that HE is the only variable – he makes all the difference in that day, because everything else is “pre-programmed”. So it really made me think about what kind of difference I could make in a single day if I engaged the day differently.
And another point worth pointing out is, how many people ARE indeed reliving the same day every day? – And like in the movie, will they not reach a point where they are sick and tired of reliving the same things?
When they do realise this, will they decide to destroy themselves, before trying to let go of some of that fear that is holding them back and engage the day more boldly? And when they make mistakes with their boldness, will they slide back into their old track or use their experience to guide them along with their CONTINUED boldness?
Well I guess these are kind of retorical questions that I am posing. However this is what I am thinking as a result of todays talkback. And my conclusion is something like this: If we are reliving the same day every day, then we can write the newspaper of what our life will be tomorrow and ten years from now, and we can write it today.
I actually DO believe that a single day can completely turn the course of events in a persons life. But this person has to wake up from the everyday lullaby and realise that the day HAS potential. I think that many people see potential within a set period. “Something” will take weeks, months or years to realise… Well what about today? What is the difference really?
I for one have been very focused on what I can acchieve “in time” and less focused on what I can acchieve right here and right now. So I do know, that one day has more potential in it than I can possibly realise. I only know it to be true, because if I did indeed realise it, I would be REALISING it. I guess this is a target I should be shooting for; simply learning to embrase more of today, so that I can change tomorrow.
I sure have a lot of thinking going on right now. So thank You Stephen for bringing my attention back to today and for reminding me, that what I plan NOW for tomorrow will set the course towards my distant future. And that newspaper 10 years from now should have a headline reading: “I do not regret a single moment past!”
Kind Regards
Jimmi

Stephen,
That’s an awesome concept. I had so many insights as you were sharing about nature vs. nuture. But the big lights went off when you talked about goals vs. nature. To me, part of one’s nature is in “the comfort zone.” I procrastinate (as an example) because I’m actually more comfortable with procrastination. Pretty soon, I accept that as part of my identity.
But it’s a false identity. It’s not the real me. The real me enjoys completion and getting things done. So the nuturing is to communicate with that part of me that puts things off and explain how much better I’ll feel completing goals. This will be a fun exercise and the daily headlines from now on “Will Knocks Down Another Project.” “Procrastination Steps Aside as Fulfillment Rocks the House.” Stuff like that!
Thanks again – great info!

Procrastination is one of my biggest problems! Not that I’m idle but that I choose the things easiest to do rather than developing the new habits that will move me out into the ‘world’ more. Writing down what you intend to accomplish works in magical ways and I certainly will apply your new approach ‘ Writing your headlines’
Will let you know how things go with it. But before even starting I know, that if done on a regular basis, it will work in surprising ways, SO LETS GET STARTED!
Many thanks, Alec.

Hi Stephen,
I liked the way you expanded and shared with us in a clear concise yet encouraging way the topic
Nature vs Nurture.
Part of our nature as you made reference to is to
focus or do things which we fill comfortable with as
opposed of stepping into the unfortable zone and
trying things that will help us or advance us with
our goals or dreams.
Stephen you are very good when it comes to taking a subject and communicating it with precision.
What you have been sharing with us in particular over the last two weeks has been great.

Hi Stephen
I would like my Headlines to read ” Chiquita was very successful at everything she did in life. A happy and fun loving person, But was a caring person at the same time.
We all tend to procrastinate some time or another, especially on things we don’t particularly like. Then there are time when we forget, and it looks as if we have put things off and we haven’t. The best thing to do, get it done, and get it over with period. If we do that we don’t have to fight with ourselves. Do you know what it’s like to beat your self up? You will not feel good until you get things done.
About that headline, keep writing your headlines each day and what you want it to be, if you haven’t had a chance to do it, this is you second chance. NO EXCUSES THIS TIME.
As always Stephen

Good morning Stephen! I’m glad I listened this morning instead of Friday night…this is motivating me right now, right when I need it. I love the headline concept. I’m a list maker but making that list doesn’t always help you see the bigger picture…but the headlines do! So, it’s also very funny that you used a seed analogy for nurturing. I just recently did a little talk at my church during a capital campaign, as we are raising money to build our own building. Anyway, I talked about my faith and what my church meant to me. I used this seed analogy because what I realized about myself while preparing for this talk is that for many, many years I had been just like an unnurtured, spiritual seed. God had stored away everything I was going to need to grow, but I just hadn’t found the right place to grow, the place where I would be nurtured. And that was my message to my congregation…that this church was my place. I wanted them to realize the difference they had made in my spiritual growth and to understand that there are even more people out there to reach.

Hi Stephen
Thank you again for your continuing encouragement and support. To day I am a little later than usual with my feedback because I was putting into action some things that I had been putting off. I guess I am overcoming my habit of procrastination. It may be that I discovered that procrastination has a positive and a negative side. The difference between the two might be explained like this: Negative procrastination is where you put things off and they never get done. Positive procrastination is where you put things off by way of scheduling them for a future time that you set in advance and do them in an organized way.
Headlines can and do if they are good ones, capture the imagination and as I am a fan of Einstein, agree with him about the value of our imaginations.
The idea of linking up with others on the blog reminded me of the mastermind principle in Napolian Hill’s Think and Grow Rich. What a great idea to pool are minds to think this way to support each other in the way the mastermind is explained in the book. Usually the team would meet once a week or once a month and get to grips with the jobs in hand, but what if instead of a small group a massive group was to do the same? This is now possible due to the internet.( pause for imagination to kick in)…..
Now call it spooky the law of attraction or whatever you like but just as I was mulling this over I receive an e-mail from Eben Pagan along a similar vain. He was even quoting from the exact page that I had been thinking about…. may be Jimmi can write a few pages about it, (only joking).
I have a few headlines to put together the first one reads….
“Vince becomes the latest overnight success after struggling for the past 50 years”
sub head: “Now he is a success everyday”
Gone to do more thinking and headline writing
with best wishes to all

Hi Stephen,
When I wrote out my headline for today and what I want my headline for tomorrow to be, I found that one area in my nature that holds me back is not taking action because of the many options that are available. Therefore one of the things I have to nurture is to do two things…
1. Take the best course of action that I know to take at that giving point of time. SOME action is better than no action.
2. Spend time daily learning more information so that I will have better actions in my arsenal.
One tool that has been a tremendous benefit to be was Google analytics. Prior to this tool I really had no clue which actions that I was taking was creating desired results. Now that I have this tool, I now know which actions are creating the results I want.
Therefore, now when it’s time to determine what actions I should take, I look at my google analytics reports, see which actions have generated the most success in the past and those actions get first priority. Any new actions that I want to take will be done AFTER I have taking initial actions that have generated positive results in the past.

Hello Stephen,
Thanks, thanks and thanks again – you are surpassing yourself all the time.
I loved the idea of headlines – I once thought what would sum me up after I was dead, what would be a fitting epitaph. and there was no doubt it would be, `She Tried Hard`. Thankfully I took it as a wake up call and realised you either do, or you don`t do, there is no such animal as TRY. The very fact that I was `trying` was keeping me exactly where I was.
I am not sure if this is the the place for it, but because headlines have come up I think it is appropriate to recount something important, at least it was important for me………
12 years ago I had a dream, no ordinary dream was this, I would almost say it was as though I had lived before and was remembering an incident. The dream was profound and had a huge impact on me because it was a dream that could not be forgotten.
In the dream I was a judge along with two other judges and we were all about to dunk witches in a lake. In the background behind a fence was a man observing the whole situation. In the dream I had the sudden realisation that what we were doing was dreadully wrong, what had these witches done that they should be judged as bad and wicked. I knew I could not carry on with the dunking and wanted to speak up and tell my peers they were dreadfully mistaken in their views as I had been. But I could not speak, I was afraid of being ostracised by my peers and would be cast out.
I knew the dream was telling me about a part of me which still doing this at the time I had the dream.
The dream had such a profound effect because I realised this was a weak negative aspect of me – after the dream I seemed to be running into situations which would really challenge this aspect of myself and it was a nightmare – nature which was the me in the dream and the situations which would challenge me to develop collided in real life. It is so easy to imagine that intellectual understanding is everything – and that anything can be overthrown through positive thinking, is I think a complete misnomer – the reality of facing your own nature which seems to be locked into the body at a cellular level is an undertaking which maybe cannot be undertaken fully until perhaps we are strong enough to challenge the self that we think we are.
To cut a long story short, 2 weeks ago I realised that the dream had been as you called it Stephen, `a headline`. Although I had been working on this aspect of myself for all that time, it only dawned on me that the dream had been a dream of the future which I had been living out. While no one in their right mind would want to face the challenge the dream was portraying, yet I am so glad I had been `out of mind` as they say, because now I fully understand that aspect of my inner nature, and it is this which is allowing it to dissolve. Rather that `being in my mind` it was as though I had come into Being. I think the silent observer in the background which I have been cultivating where my self is concerned, is the `Being` which I did not know existed before I undertook the challenge.
This might seem like I am talking about being self obssessed, but it is nothing of the kind simply because you cannot be self obssessed when you are witnessing yourself. Self obsession I think is when who cannot see yourself as you are immersed in your conditioned and habitual self.
Although I had thought about Karma intellectually and had formed certain opinions, now I might even go so far as to say that I have been working off some Karma which I have carried with me over aeons of time.
Many people may find this laughable but I am wondering whether the `BE,DO,HAVE` is possible for everyone if we do not know what forces are working inside of us – is it just possible that we are all working on different levels of development, by this I don`t mean what is supposed to be the normal linear development levels, but maybe higher levels of development.
Al the best to you and everyone.

[...] When Our Desires Collide with Our Nature [...]
You ask, what do we need to nurture?
My opinion, we need to nurture who we are BEING at all times. In every moment of every day, we have choices, and most often we choose not to be – that is, not to be proactive, strong, resilient, loving, etc.
You have mentioned this critical equation before, and today you just passed over it quickly, but i want to emphasise it for everyone else’s benefit:
BE –> DO –> HAVE
This is the only way to live life powerfully. A talkback on this subject alone would be a VERY powerful session Stephen.
Q: What do other people think?
This insight alone helps me tackle the issue about nature v nurture. When we stop to ask ourselves, who am I being in this very moment? we are propelled to combat the negative forces of our nature.
cheers, Mark

Hi Vince,
I would dare to say that I could write a few pages about pretty much anything.
If we are talking about The LoA and/or Masterminding… Hmmm I could probably write a few dusins pages. (NOT kidding)
I cannot help but smile that You hint the fact that I write a lot. You are not the first one to point that out and I will bet that You are not the last one either. I just tend to get carried away; I just love writing and I especially love to write about subjects that are discussed on these talkbacks.
Even as I write to You right now, I am just jotting down a thousands words a minute – I’m like a machine when it comes to expressing myself and my thoughts through written words. – When I write I am in my passionzone, I can go on for hours and I just feel good doing it… AND You are stuck with me!
A serious comment about Masterminding though. I can tell You that every great teacher I have studied points out the importance and the benefits of Masterminding. Many of them call this the most powerful tool for success.
I have also thought about joining a Mastermind group, but I would cirtainly never create a Mastermind group with the people I am currently involved with – we would simply never get started and definately not use this tool to its full potential.
So I absolutely agree, that the internet IS a benefit when it comes to finding the right members of the group. It creates a greater opportunity to locate like-minded individuals each with their own unique qualities and fields of expertise (A perfect Mastermind group).
You know an important person in American History who utilised Masterminding on a grand scale was Theodore Rosevelt, who was to lead America out of the great depression. He told the american public, that the cause of the great depression was selfishness and greed. – In other words, people were holding on to their own and simply stoped sharing. Thereby the people blocked the circulation of service, good will, kindness and of course money. The flow that is essential in order for any country or society to work properly had been blocked, simply because people were too caught up in getting more and holding on to what they had.
You can probably imagine that if everyone did that, then humanity would ultimately fall. Man was born for cooperation and sharing; no man can stand alone and when MEN decide stand alone there is a serious problem.
Anyway he went on to say; “We’ve always known that heedless self interest is bad morals, we now know it is also bad economics”.
So how does this tie up with masterminding? Well – The depression was actually a result of something that is the complete opposite to the purpose of a mastermind group. AND Masterminding on a national scale was how it was resolved.
Roosevelt made the american public stop focusing on materialism and the making of more money than the next man, and to start diving into community and public service. – (Stop focusing on yourself and what others can do for You, focus on others and what You can do for them).
You see in stead of focusing on materialism, the people needed to focus on the cause of materialism. It was the focus on materialism that was keeping people locked in poverty and to break out of that cycle, people needed to develope a degree of understanding about the cause of this effect.
The people learned to give more of themselves to others and this restimulated the flow; “Things” were starting to circulate again and this basically guided America out of the depression.
Now! The purpose of a mastermind group is actually the same deal. YOU focus on what YOU can do for the other members of the group. And in return they will focus on what they can do for you, as well as the aditional members of the group.
The whole purpose and benefit of a mastermind group deteriorates if one or more members of the group changes this focus to the opposite. So it is absolutely essential, that every single member is focused on their contribution to the mass. – If every single member does that, then the personal benefit of each individual will be phenominal.
It is a perfect opportunity to pass along your wisdom, experience and viewpoints and You will get that back tenfold (if there are 10 members of the group right?).
Well YOUR giving will be the cause and your getting will be the effect. And You only need to take care of the cause.
Well I hope You can use this for something. By the way I have also read Napoleon Hill’s book Think and grow rich. But there are still many parts of the book that I do not yet fully understand. – But understanding is developed over time and with repetition, so it will come soon enough. – This oldish english writing is a little more difficult for me to understand You see – I have to put forth more of an effort to read it because of the many unknown terms and words. But that is just a bonus in the learning process that makes me better at english is writing.
Did I make the “few pages” yet? – I tried to keep it short.
Kind regards
Jimmi
PS. About Eben quoting the same page You were thinking about…
That happened because You were subconsciously looking for it. And You were looking for it, because You were so focused on it. – These things happen to me all the time; I always find the sources, materials, books etc. that gives me excactly the kind of information that I am looking for (subconsciously). That is a skill I have purposely developed over time and now consider natural.
But it is simply YOU “programming” your brain to go seek and find. You do that with your focus and that seems to attracts your attention and awareness, and guide your actions towards it almost automatically right. – People call that sort of thing “luck”, “chance” or “coinsidence”. But I for one do not believe in these supersticious explainations of the past. Luck, chance and coinsidence is what people used to explain the unexplainable as far back as the middelages. But this is an orderly universe that is guided by Law and that leaves no room for luck.
At least that is my point of view…
Gonna stop writing now.

Thank you for getting me thinking about myself from a completely
different perspective..I find myself dwelling on the negative and this
has affected me and everyone around me. Your discussion has given me a
different way to approach this and to improve myself..Basically starting
each day with the end in mind..and work to figure out how I want to
achieve this goal..
Thanks againg!! renee

Hi Stephen,
Like Stephen Covey said, “Begin With the End In Mind.”
Its a winning concept writing our own headlines – it ultimately means that we have better control of our own destiny.
Writing my headlines today for what I want to appear tomorrow – as a result of my actions today.
Alternatively this morning I visualize what I will do today and as a consequence write what will be my headlines for tomorrow.
Our Brain has infinite capacity so we must avoid wherever possible procrastination (the thief of time)stealing our mark in this Life.
Writing our own headlines in advance is an opportunity to inspire us to better and greater things.
This is definitely better for a more fruitful tomorrow.
Have a great day
