How To Get Motivated Part 1, Includes FREE Momemtum Mixx Audio

September
15th

It’s time to get motivated!

Motivation is fuel in the engine of our lives that helps us to take action on ideas and sustain action when our commitment to succeed becomes challenged.

And while many say all the power is in taking action, I say that’s only partially true because to take action on wrong information can be a disaster.

The right information precedes taking the right actions and thus, getting information and taking action are two sides of the same coin. <-- Obviously! Yea, I know.

However, when motivation both begins and ends with getting and collecting information and not following through with deliberate action, life becomes one of constant despair.

Click the play button below to listen to today's Momentum Mixx, “Believe Something, Tolerate Nothing.”

Download the mp3 below and hear the full 3min and 23sec track.

Many people allow their preparation (learning, knowing, getting information) turn into procrastination.

To get beyond that we must choose to focus on what we are going to, not what we are going through.

And “go through it” we will!

Once you pick the path in life where you choose to journey and find success, be it business, politics, athletics… you name it. You are immediately on a collision course with adversity.

Adversity is life’s gym where we do strength training to build the type of emotional, mental and spiritual muscle to be the victor over circumstances and not the victim.

Every conversation about what you want in life is put to the test the moment you decide to sit down and dine at the table of champions.

You don’t get a seat at the table because you want it… you get a seat at the table because you earned. Because life never gives us what we want… life gives us what we go claim and earn.

And to claim all the treasures in life that are rightfully yours, you must take deliberate action, have faith, be focused and have an unwavering consistency and patience.

Easier said than done?

Maybe, because… our faith is tested by the fiery flames of fear, uncertainly, doubt and critics, while our focus is tested by a thousand distractions and the tempting deceptions of multitasking, and our consistency is seduce by green pastures of other things we could be doing while our patience gets hammered by untimely setbacks and self imposed pressures of where we feel we should be, could be or would be… if this, that or the other did or didn’t happen.

There is no comfort to be found in the time machine when you visit the pains of your past or travel your time line to the future and entertain all the uncertainties it holds.

Life is a river of both bitter and sweet waters.

The bitterness of defeat in our journeys makes the sweetness of the grapes of victory all the better and we have a greater respect and appreciation for life and who we’ve become in the process.

To help you on this journey I have a series of audios called “Momentum Mixx” that I will be releasing to you FREE.

I hope they entertain you, inspire you, inform and education you and motivate you daily to stay the course so you can experience all that life has to offer you.

So here is Momentum Mixx #1. “Believe Something, Tolerate Nothing.”

Wow… this is one of the most powerful sentences that I’ve heard in a while… “Because life never gives us what we want… life gives us what we go claim and earn.”

Wanting something is never enough. If you are not willing to put yourself out there and claim what we deserve and have earned, you need to ask yourself, “How Bad Do I really want this?” and “If I want it that bad, what’s holding me back and what can I do to gain positive momentum?”

Love your work Stephen. You are a constant inspiration!

We all have things we must tolerate or choose to tolerate.

The question is what are you tolerating that’s holding you back.

Generally we will create stories to validate things we tolerate that hurt us.

Or we will continue to tolerate them because for some it’s safer to tolerate the pain they know than to tolerate the uncertainty of moving on and/or letting go.

It’s easy to keep tolerating things, even if we know it does not serve us well. Sometimes it seems to be the lesser of two evils and we are afraid of the “unknown” and what would happen if we really moved on. We tell ourselves “oh, it’s really not that bad” or “could be worse”, yet deep down inside we know, we would like a change. When I get to situations like that, I always ask myself “is it worth wasting my time over or not”?
As I am getting older, I seem to be making these decisions much quicker. Yeah, there is such a thing as getting wiser as we get older (at least some advantage here!!!)

    Stephen,
Great post! Tolerance is a funny thing. My mother used to point out that to an engineer, high tolerance meant a badly-made part, a machine that would fail soon. Little tolerance— “close tolerance” meant a fine machine.
With people, it can be good to tolerate, even respect and appreciate our differences in personality style (the world needs all types) because they compliment each other.
But if someone has alcoholism, zero tolerance is the only thing that can help. Anything else is enabling, and s/he will keep drinking (and destroying brain cells) as long as there is ONE enabler left in their life. Pain is the alcoholic’s friend, though they can’t recognize that ’til they’re clean.
80-90% of those in jail are addicted to alcohol or other drugs.
Early Stage Alcoholism isn’t usually recognized (the alcoholic may be a high-achiever) but the earlier it’s identified and stopped, the better the chances for recovery. And the better likelihood of preventing terrible tragedy.
Not tolerating bad behavior (not “bad person”) can be a Win for everyone.
    Thanks again, Stephen!

I agree, motivation is the little kick start we all need to keep focused, to keep moving forward, to allow ourselves to move beyond what currently is.

A great poem I read frequently to also motivate me is “Our Deepest Fear” by Marianne Williamson.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us……..”

    Hi Steve

I agree with Scott No.2 … those words just jumped out at me …

“Because life never gives us what we want… life gives us what we go claim and earn.”

Yes, “our faith is tested by the fiery flames of fear, uncertainly, doubt and critics …”

But with someone like you Stephen, who is so giving, we have a person we can totally trust because of their genuine care for others.

    God Bless

    Hi Stephen,

I usually read all your posts and, thank you, I enjoy them very much. You had the best presentations so far, straight to the subject, with very useful information.

About the mix, sorry but I could not tolerate it. It was hard to follow the message.

Thanks and very much grateful to you,

Hi Steve, thank you for the audio re tolerance. It reminded me of this quote by David Russell:-

“The hardest thing in life is to know which bridge to cross and which to burn”

My own thoughts are “I have burned enough bridges and now is the time to make the crossing :)

    Bright Blessings to all.

    Hey Stephen,

I appreciate the content, but it is masked by the music track! I worked as an audio engineer for many years, and if I had let a piece like this go out the client would have beat me soundly about the head and shoulders. More meat – less gravy, please!

Hell yeah Stephen- keep these coming.

I don’t have the older momentum mixes. I’m looking online here but all I’m finding are sites with outdated links for the old mixes. If anyone could lend a helping hand I’ll love you forever. Stephen, if you’re reading this, could you set those ones up for download on the site too? Appreciate all you do-

    Thanks Stephen.

Excellent audio and is worth listening to. I am deeply inspired by it and please do produce more of this kind. It’s very motivational. When toleration sets in our lives, success and progress in some ways is impaired and goals achievement fails. Good stuff!

    Heaps of thanks.

Stephen. These tracks are AWESOME. this is a great way to get your message out because riding the NYC subways I usually like motivational tapes then get bored and crank my music. this will allow me to do both learn while being entertained.

It’s like your live performances…notice I said performances not speeches. You get the audience engaged and eagerly ready to receive the message.

“Education is Entertainment!” <– you can keep that one too : )

create a cd like this and let me know. I already have my credit card waiting.

Holla at ya tweeps when you see me on the net : )
