This is something that I will also encourage my kids to do, as they have both just launched sites for themselves.

You talk to fast. I was on myspace trying to follow your instructions but could not keep up with you. You know this like the back of your hand. I do not. Here’s a myspace tip…

Whenever you add a friend, go back to their profile, and then enter their blog.

Click on ‘invite to my blog’ and myspace will send a blog subscription request to them.

If they accept the request, then every time you post a blog, they’ll be notified on their homepage via an alert, just like when you get a new message or a new comment.

I’ve used this feature to build something like a ‘mailing list’ on myspace. I’ve picked up over 100 subscribers doing this, who read my every message.

And remember at the end of every important post to ASK for the subscription. And make sure you ask them for KUDOS too. This helps build your ranking amongst other myspace blogs…as myspace has their own ranking system for blogs that they display on their main BLOG page.

If i can suggest about starting the group….even if there are large numbers of the groups in the niche, it is always possible to start new group for particular region, and that way position your self as a leader in that local region.

I would sure like to pick your brain; but with these dtalpha talkbacks I guess that I am kind of doing that. But seriously though: Please send me your brain! I will pay for a first class shipment and provide a good home for that creative muscle of yours.

Now I am not the one to talk too much on subjects like these; however it seems to me that the strategy you talk about could work equally well on facebook? – And I say that with the risk of sounding like a twig I might add.
