Napoleon Hill Says THIS Can Make You Rich, Famous and Successful
Most people have never seen it before.
However, according to Napoleon Hill…
“(this has) ….marked the turning point of every person who has promoted himself or herself from the lower brackets of success to the higher planes of achievement, where one acquires everything he/she desires.”
What is it?
Well, in today’s 13 minute and 12 second DTAlpha TalkBack, Napoleon Hill will tell you himself, his voice, in his on words what this one thing is.
You will also hear the voice and words of W. Clement Stone as he shares his quick point of view on
this principle from Hill.
So let’s get started and find out this incredible success principle by which Napoleon Hill said he has never received a major favorable break during his entire life that did not come from having done this.
Hummmm… now what could this be?
Wonder no more… that answer awaits.

Hi Stephen,
This is very powerful information about going the extra mile. The times in my life when I’ve been the most successful have been when I’ve applied this principle. When “you overdeliver and under promise”, you tip the scale in your favor, especially when you ask, “how may I serve”! Napolean Hill’s information is solid, and based on many years of research studying highly successful people. It’s time for me to read it again ,to allow his wisdom to soak in at a deeper level. Thanks for bringing these words to me!

Thanks, Stephen!
This TalkBack Feature you have going is certainly the Extra Mile, and it’s appreciated. As a retired Radio Broadcasting Guy I really appreciate your production abilities. Well done!
I’m just getting my feet wet in Internet Marketing, and what you are doing is an inspiration!
The group I’m tied in with is Advanced Coaching and Leadership. We operate from a former “Dude Ranch” in North Texas, near the Oklahoma Border. What we do is best explained at another web site than the one I listed above: http://www.ZoneTalk.com/Spring/
As you have time, check it out. And I’d love to stay on the list for your TalkBack feature. For some reason, I haven’t been able to install I-Tunes, though I tried several times. Apparently the TalkBank software does not require it because TalkBack runs fine.

Hi phillip,
My wife is pregnant, so lately I was studying up on the subject of pregnancy, reading a book written by a doctor on the subject. The doctor was very wordy, and I started noticing that most of what he said really wasn’t the “meat” that I was looking for.
I remembered taking a speed-reading course as a teenager, and one of the things it taught me to do was read only the first couple of sentences of each paragraph, since that’s where the real substance is — the rest is more or less detail.
I noticed that this was certainly the case with the book on pregnancy, which intruiged me. I looked at a few articles online and — lo and behold — it was true of them as well.
Thus GistWeb.com was born. GistWeb makes it easy to cut the “fat”
out of any online content and get only the “meat” (or substance) that’s most important. Follow the directions on the home page for adding the GistWeb bookmark to your browser, and watch as it cuts your research time in half!
It’s 100%, completely, absolutely, unabashedly f.ree — no upsells, downsells, sidesells or crossells. It’s just a handy tool born out of my desire to “get to the meat” of a matter.
Here’s the link:

Please post a comment to the blog after giving it a try and let me know what you think:

Hi Stephen
WOW!! do you deliver. I had never thought of the extra mile as a place before so I think I have another expanded view to consider for it opening up other metaphores and exponential functions here I come. For those readers who didn’t understand my last sentence, go the extra mile. (No I an not crazy, it just appears that way to the uninitiated)
The answers are before everyones eyes they just don’t see them or focus on them. Then it takes a desision on the part of the individual that does see them to get the benefit and that is the true key to it all namely …Make the desision to go the extra mile but make sure the direction of your walking is planned properly as the extra mile could be in the wrong direction if you don’t make the correct choise.
Best wishes to all

I have just spent two days running a workshop for long-term unemployed people. It is enlightening to see the absence of the behaviours and attitudes that you describe. The first challenge is actually getting them into programs that can help them. They give wonderfully creative excuses for why they cannot make it, why the will be late, why they need to dash off in the middle of the day, and why they need to leave early. And when they arrive some of them appear to have just come from a funeral. At least smiles are contagious, and when I smile they smile back!

Great stuff, Steven.
I once spent a year personally delivering business cards to a client, rather than shipping them because I wanted to cement the relationship.
The following year, that client was responsible for about $100,000 of my income and a large part of that was for placing advertising for them.
Go the extra mile and, as you and Mr. Hill said, you’ll stand head and shoulders above the pack.

I totally agree with everything Napolean said and Mr. Stone, the bible says it also,YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW! Every time I have used these principles I have experienced success. I also learned to increase my awareness which will help you identify things around you that you never even noticed before. Attitudes determine your amplitude in life. Be happy just because you can. Love life and live to love. Just by paying attention to what’s going on in your own mind can increase your awareness and help you increase you service. I think everyone should listen to a recording by Mr. Nightingale called “ACRES OF DIAMONDS”, it’s a oldie but a goody. You can even learn useful life principles from movies and t.v. like :”live long and prosper”,”don’t try, do or do not”,and many other jems you may hear if you pay attention. The self help information is broadcast to us from all mediums, you just have to increase your awareness to recieve and understand and decode the information. This site is a excellent example.

Thanks Stephen for another thought provoking message. I love Napolean Hill’s “Think and Grow Rich” and believe that every school and college should give all their students a copy before they leave to open their minds to the possibilities beyond employee mentality.
Instead of settling for a career of just making someone else rich for a limited reward, they could think about going the extra mile to provide outstanding service to a group of people crying out for help and a solution to their problem and need or rise above the average in corperate life.
Keep up the great work and hope to see you at a seminar again in the near future.
Steve.

“really am stuck, I wish someone could give me a few ideas on what business to start”
Dee, please don’t let someone else tell you “what business to start”. You can do your own research, the Internet is a wealth of information, please don’t get overwhelmed or distracted. “Follow your passion” is not a cliche. It’s a starting point. “Play to your strenght” is not a cliche, its a tactic. Combine the two and you could be on your way.
Also, do read Napoleon Hill’s “Think and Grow Rich” (first published in 1937) or if you prefer to read an updated version, Ted Ciuba’s The New Think and Grow Rich”. Dee, I know you’ll find a business idea to suit YOU.

Hi Stephen,
It really comes back to good old gospel values. ” If your brother asks you to go one mile go 2 (That extra mile) …” We need to give beofre we get, without expectation. Unfortunatley a lot of people in this world do not know how to give.
This is a great principle to live by in all areas of your life – ie. to show charity in any given situation.

Hi Stephen,
You dish out some exciting topics today with the aid of Mr. Hill and Mr. Stone, and for that I thank You. I cirtainly enjoy listning to these short but prizeless audios and by that I mean both the audios of Mr. Hill and Mr Stone, but also the audios or Mr. Pierce.
Now let us talk about that extra mile. I sure have a few things to share on that topic.
I do not remember who said this, but a guy once said: “It is never crowded on the last mile!”
I believe that there are quite a few valuable things to drag out of that short and simple fragment of truth.
First of all there is the obvious point; that people who are willing to go that extra mile are the few. – Everyone are willing to look down that road; most people are willing to travle the first mile; some are willing to go further and as the miles pass, the crowd grows thinner and thinner until only a small group of participants are left and they are the successfull ones.
Here is a less obvious point. Everyone are so caught up in competition! We are often competing in our everyday lives with pretty much everyone around us. Competition may be good for something, but I believe that competition can indeed also become a destructive factor.
The point is, that going the extra mile really means competing with yourself ONLY. It does not mean competing with everyone else in that specific area – it simply means running your own race. You have no need to defeat any competition and why??? – Because there is never crowded on the last mile – You only need to make it to the last mile where the competitors will have “defeated” themselves along the way.
Some other guy once said: “Professionals create, amateaurs compete”. – The point being; chose the path of creation rather than the path of competing. Do not try to knock others down in order for you to rise up; simply go that extra mile and be a creator.
Here comes a third quote: “Successfull people do what unsuccessfull people are unwilling to do”.
This is the extra mile in a nutshell. You have got to do what unsuccessfull people are not willing to do. Some people calls these activities “razor edge activities” and they do so because the fine line between success and failure is as sharp as a razors edge. – What we are talking about here can very well be simple tasks or routines that are performed on a consistant basis; they are the things that most people either do not think about doing or simply choose not to do. – These tasks can seem very insignificant, silly, boring, tiresome, exhausting… (and the list goes on) – however these do represent the fine line of acchieval vs unacchieval.
I really want to talk some more about this.
Now when it comes to activities there are really 4 categories that each defines every single one of our activities (and I mean both actual activities and activities that we desire to do at some point in our lives).
First of all we have 2 categories of important activities and 2 categories of unimportant activities.
The first category is important and urgent:
This category involves; crisis, pressuring problems, deadlines, time restricted issues and the like.
For example: Your mother gets terribly ill and needs you to be with her. That is an important and urgent “activity”.
Or: You have a bill to pay within 3 days. That is also important and urgent.
These are the everyday essential things that we should absolutely not postpone nor ignore in our lives.
The second category is important but not urgent:
This category involves: Preparation, prevention, making friends, seeking new opportunities, planning, relaxing, maintaining source of everything (yourself) and the like.
For example: You know that you should proactively improve your physical health to avoid possible future diseases – however noone are forcing you to do that NOW, so it is easy to put on hold.
Or: You know that planning your day for 10 minutes in advance helps you to be more productive and efficient – however noone are making you do that, so it is an easy task to avoid doing.
I will return to this second category after naming the last two categories. Because what You really want to focus on is this one. This category is the extra mile; this is the razor edge activities – so it needs a little more space.
Category three is unimportant but urgent activities:
This category involves: Interuptions, unexpected visitors, (some) mail and e-mails, too many meetings, problems that will occur some time in the future, popular activities, habits like watching tv and playing computer games and the like.
For example: The phone rings and you feel obligated to answer it though it may not be that important at all at that specific time.
Or: You spend 2 hours a day watching shows on the television that you could care less about. But you feel that you need to do that right here and now and every single day.
These are the activities that I would call timestealers. We tend to make them urgent and essential, but we could actually do just fine without them.
The latter one is of course; the unimportant and unurgent activities:
This category involves: triviality, hard labour, some mail and e-mails (also), many phone conversations, pleasant activities and simply wasting time like watching non essental television shows or playing computer games (yet again).
For example: you may pick up the phone and call a friend to just talk with them about “nothing” for several hours – nothing important and nothing urgent; just passing the time right.
Or: maybe you would rather plan to spend time organising your stamp collection then planning on how to improve your business.
Again this kategory is defined by a somewhat waste of time or unbenificial passing of time.
Now let me just tie these things together. I would suggest that you try to place your different activities into these 4 kategories and to put them where they actually belong. Then I would have you identify if you have your priorities straight.
If you look at the urgent and unimportant category I am sure that you will find several activities that you treat as- or feel are actually urgent AND IMPORTANT! So you kind of need to realise that you are probably prioritising things in this category way too high in respect to your own personal success, acchieval and development.
If you look at the unurgent and unimportant kategory I am sure that you will find areas that you are also prioritising in an unfavorable way. You probably feel that some of them are more urgent than they really are and/or that some areas are more important than they really are.
Now let me return to the second and most important kategory. The important but unurgent activities. What is the big problem with these activities is comparison to ex. the third category of urgent but unimportant activities???
The problem is that these activities are NOT urgent!!! – And if something is not either urgent or beneficial to you some time in the near future, then that something is easely dismissed and is litterally easely dismissed.
This is the category of activities that will make or break you; but it is UNurgent and easely dismissed because there is no “visible” consequence involved with NOT doing them and that is the problem. The problem is that noone will reward you for doing them and noone will get on your back if you do not do them. However your success relies on you doing them and that is why it is never crowded on that extra mile… because people easely dismiss this category of activity that will take them there.
SO in conclusion to this.
Category one: It is important – keep doing that and employ category two to enjoy proactive solutions to some of these urgencies. High priority.
Category two: It is ESSENTIAL – START doing that, do more of that and/or keep doing that. – TOP priority.
Category three: It is not that important – lower the priority, rit yourself of some of them, spend less time doing them.
Category four: It is not important – lower the priority, rit yourself of some of them, spend less time doing them.
I sure hope that this makes sense and that whoever reads this at least gets an understanding, that the most important things that we can do to improve our lives probably has the lowest priority. Just categorise what you do and how you prioritise and you will most likely find some interesting causes to your problems.
Now I will move on to another area involving that extra mile. What we are really talking about is of course how to progress ourselves to success and to get more out of life. So what I have draged out of this talkback and the words of Mr. Hill is actually a message on how to get what we want. And the interesting thing is, that Mr. Hill’s explaination on how to GET success has nothing to do with “taking”.
He said that in order to become successfull you must:
Provide quality service.
Provide a great quantity of service.
Have a great and positive mental attitude when doing business.
He is talking about how to GET what you want; but these points are all about giving something.
I honestly believe that a very great number of people feel that they need to TAKE in order to GET in life.
A person who wants money could easely go to the bank and try to TAKE the money by stealing it. – But is that really the best way to get the money?
I believe that you can never really get what you want by taking it. If there is something you want, then you have to provide it in order for it to return to you… Think about these examples:
Can you have become true friends with someone without being friendly to them?
Can you recieve true love from someone without giving love to them also?
Can you get a stranger to smile at you without smiling at them?
Can you expect people to respect you if you do not respect them?
One of the things that I have learned is; that if I am the source of what I want to have, then that something comes easier to me. When I am friendly and smiling and joyful I actually get more of that same attitude from others. But when I am angry, frowning and irritated, then I get more of that same attitude from others.
I get a lot of love from my family and I get that because I give them my love. Many people will say that family always love eachother but that is not true. – Family often accepts or tollerate eachother and indeed the love in a family can disappear. I believe that relationships and family falls appart simply because each individual member awaits love and recognition from the others without giving any of that him- or herself.
The point is, that I am at a point where I cannot see how on earth anyone can expect to recieve anything that they are not giving away themselves. – You only get love when you give love. You only get good friends if you are friendly. You get smiles when you smile. You get ___________ when you give __________! Period.
And by this I have reached kind of a far out conclusion. It is not a secret that I want to grow my financial status – I want some more money basically. So my conclusion is, that I should start giving some money away on a frequent basis.
Now honestly; that does not make a whole lot of sense does it? – I give away money so that I can have more money!
However I follow the same logic that concludes that I cannot get love without giving love. I want a more abundant life (not to be confused with being having a lot of money) – so I try to share some abundance and make others feel more abundant.
I have simply started giving what I want to get. I have tried getting what I wanted by taking it and that failed, so now I am trying something different.
And I think that I may be on to something; because like I said – Mr. Hill is talking about how to give in his talk about how to get. And personally I have been spending some time now employing that principle to the best of my ability and I feel that it does indeed benefit me.
A good example is the work that I do. I actually make more money than my collegues because I go that extra mile at work. There are tasks at work that has never been performed by anyone else but me and I have recieved recognition for that. So I am actually very secure, trusted and quite well paid in the work that I do. I enjoy a lot of freedom at work and everyone knows that they can count on me every day and surely I benefit tremendously from that.
This is just a small example, but I do make a significant amount of additional money and enjoy a significant amount of freedom from that extra mile. – So I have seen this principle actually work and hence my reason to progress in the area of giving more of myself and my money to the world around me. And the people around me that I observe are unwilling to make the same kind of effort are actually pretty low performers who are often sick and complaining about things. They are the ones who are focused only on getting and that is why they are really not getting anything. So I feel quite happy about the fact that I get it. Get it?
So the question is; are you going about your “having” with a “get” attitude??? How is that working for ya?
Kind regards
Jimmi

Hi Stephen, Now isn’t this funny? Was just reading the principles of success by Jack Canfield whose teacher actually was W.Clement Stone and I had just read that chapter “going the extra mile” yesterday….! All I can say is that I’ve been applying it for quite a while because it’s always been part of my personality and people would always view me as the “locco one” but hey it works. Even sometimes the Universe puts me on the test and serves me with “apparent failure” and the next day I get twice of what I was hoping for because failure isn’t part of my vocabulary nor behaviour or thinking. So to all the lazy and grounchy ones out there: STOP COMPLAINING AND MOVE YOUR….you know what. Thank you for sharing Stephen it’s a great message you’re conveying! With many thanks and it makes me feel like part of the cream:-) Patricia from Luxembourg

extra mile is like seeding..even in planting.you never plant 1, you plant many to get more, while you are tilling, weeding, feeding watering, waiting for crops.you think about what the crops will bring.no, not what seeds produce vetbles, etc.a framer thinks about what he will buy with his harvest..pay off bills, buy new equipment, his wife new what ever she wants, needs, etc. then when it arrives,he also thinks about how he could make a bigger yield next time.it’s in the journey you grow.result, attitude determine’s next beginning.everything is but a moment,,a doing what ever needs to be done, then a next…even if it’s a setback..always a next…moment..do something…learn to pat your back for what you tried, are doing, not kick for what you thought..thoughts can be dangerous.thoughts stop action..great heroes will always say i never thought, thought about it. i just did it…ride GOD’s highway of life into eternity on wings of angels,if they seem else where, remember the 2 prints, that’s HIM carrying you…
