I went from growing up poor w/ a mom on welfare and a Dad who was a major drug dealer. Great interview. And, as Ms. Bomani and you both highlight, obstacles are necessary for great success. My own father OD’d and passed away when I was ayoung child. My mother worked in a factory b/c the hours were compatiblwe with our school hours. Her example of hard work and setting priorities resulted in me obtaining 2 degrees (BSCS and JD); my brother obtaining a degree and a career working with juvenile delinquents (25+ years with the same facility); and my sister having a successful career – oh, and we 3 siblings have NO divorces, 5 children, and 50 years combined of successful marriage.

I am hoping to take the mindset that helped me prosper after adversity, and present it via the Internet. And you are a terrific example and role model. Thank you.

Hearing the complete background of successful people for me, really helps. It give me the foundation or the complete picture of how a person was able to move from misery to success. As I have studied many successful people, too often, I get a snippet of “I was broke living in a basement to a millionaire” but the steps along the way are left out leaving me wondering how the mindset was changed step by step. For me, that is key information that I need to help me order my steps or at least put me on the correct train of thought.
